Academy’s first live annual meeting for three years

May I invite you to CLP 2022 in Atlanta—the Academy’s first live annual meeting in three years. Registration opens this month.

With its theme Making Connections: Inspiring Transformation Through Education, the meeting will also have an online facility for members unable to travel.

Rebecca Brendel and Saul Levin

We are delighted to welcome Rebecca Weintraub Brendel, MD, JD, FACLP (ACLP president 2018-19), now president of the American Psychiatric Association, and her CEO medical director at the APA, Saul Levin, MD, MPA, FRCP-E, FRCPsych, who will be our opening plenary speakers.

Dr. Brendel is director of the Master’s Degree Program at the Harvard Medical School Center for Bioethics, of which she is also an associate director. She bases her clinical work in Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital where she is the director of Law and Ethics at the Center for Law, Brain, and Behavior.

Last month ACLP News reported on Dr. Brendel’s inaugural speech as president of the APA.

Before taking up his role at the APA in 2013, Dr. Levin led the District of Columbia Department of Health. There, he was responsible for the health of the nation’s capital, including primary care for from infants to seniors on Medicaid and Medicare, DC-funded health care, HIV/AIDS, addictions, health professional licensing and regulation, policy and planning. He was also responsible for health emergency preparedness, planning, and coordinating alongside dozens of federal and local agencies to ensure the public’s health during major events such as President Obama’s second inauguration.

The annual meeting itself begins on Thursday, November 10, and continues through a farewell lunch on Saturday, November 12.

The Hilton Atlanta, the venue for this year’s conference, is open for CLP 2022 reservations at this link: https://book.passkey.com/event/50256659/owner/322/home. The CLP 2022 rate is $199 per night + tax/fees. The conference rate is available for the nights of November 7-13, 2022.
