Case Conference: Torsades de Pointes in a patient with COVID-19: Recognizing Risk Factors and Ramifications

Description: In this case presentation of a young woman with Torsades de Pointes and COVID-19 myocarditis we will discuss the approach to risk stratification and mitigation when prescribing psychotropic medications known to cause QTc prolongation in a patient with severe medical illness. We will review the impacts of COVID-19 and its treatment on the heart, on the QT-interval, and special pharmacologic considerations. Finally, we will discuss a trauma-informed approach to caring for a patient who has experienced aborted sudden death.
