Secrets of How to Apply for C-L Fellowship Training—and Win!
‘We look forward to answering your questions on how to join the best subspecialty there is!’
Secrets behind how to apply for a C-L Fellowship successfully are set to be revealed in a virtual Q&A online next month.
But don’t tell everyone in case all the places for this upcoming application season disappear in a flash.
Trainees who want to be in the know need to make a date in their calendars now:
Sunday, June 2 3:00-4:30pm PDT / 6:00-7:30pm EDT
The Academy and the American Psychiatric Association are presenting their annual webinar on applying to C-L Psychiatry Fellowships. And moderating it all will be Chandan Khandai, MD, UT Southwestern, who knows the inside story and will expose a trick or two.
Chandan Khandai, MD
Panellists—billed as “fantastic C-L fellowship directors from around the country” and therefore with detailed insider knowledge— are:
Paul Desan, MD, FACLP, Yale
Adrienne Taylor, MD, Brigham and Women’s Hospital
Sara Nash, MD, FACLP, Columbia
Samuel Greenstein, MD, Long Island Jewish-Northwell Health
Raymond Young, MD, Emory
Kewchang Lee, MD, FACLP, University of California-San Francisco
Tom Soeprono, MD, University of Washington.
Presenters will give an overview of why trainees should opt for C-L Psychiatry, including opportunities to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion clinically and academically; discuss how and when to apply; and quietly share those usually undisclosed tips for applying and matching in the 2024-2025 cycle to give attendees an unfair advantage.
As many programs will offer ERAS as an application option, a presentation from the Association of American Medical Colleges will be included on how to use ERAS.
Lastly, there will be a live Q&A. Says Dr. Khandai: “Whether you’re just beginning to explore C-L Psychiatry, or applying this summer, we look forward to answering your questions on how to join the best subspecialty there is!”
The Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry is a professional organization of physicians who provide psychiatric care to people with coexisting psychiatric and medical illnesses, both in hospitals and in primary care. Our specialty is called consultation-liaison psychiatry because we consult with patients and liaise with their other clinicians about their care.
With nearly 2,000 members, the Academy is the voice of consultation-liaison psychiatry in the US with international reach.
Please browse our website, read our journal, Psychosomatics, and come to our annual meeting which is in November each year. In 2020 it will be a virtual event – see www.CLP2020.org for more details.
