Applications for both the 2018-19 Faculty Innovation in Education Awards and the 2018-19 Research Awards are available from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. (ABPN) on the ABPN website www.abpn.com.
The ABPN Faculty Innovation in Education Award supports the development of innovative education and/or evaluation projects that promote effective residency/fellowship training or lifelong learning of practicing psychiatrists and neurologists. The duration of the fellowship will normally be for two years with a maximum amount of funding of $50,000 per year or $100,000 total.
The 2018-19 application and accompanying materials are due to the ABPN by August 14, 2017. Recipients will be announced by November 15, 2017, with funding to start on January 1, 2018.
The ABPN Research Award supports research projects related to the mission of the ABPN, which is to develop and provide valid and reliable procedures for certification and maintenance of certification in psychiatry and neurology. Projects focus on innovative approaches to assessing physicians as they prepare to, or continue to, practice psychiatry or neurology. Expected outcomes include advances in the theory or practice of assessment along the continuum of residency training and clinical practice. The maximum amount of funding available is $100,000 per award and projects may take up to two years to complete.
