ACLP president-elect Michael Sharpe’s clinical team at Oxford University Hospitals has been awarded “Team of the Year” 2018 by the UK’s Royal College of Psychiatrists—an award judged from among all UK psychiatry teams, not just C-L teams.
Meanwhile, a new clinical trial being delivered by Dr. Sharpe’s team is being trailed as the biggest C-L research study undertaken to date. The team will study 3,000 people aged 65 and over, and will test the effectiveness of a proactive C-L psychiatry intervention during hospital stays, including identifying impacts on length of stay. The team hopes to publish its results in 2020—which will coincide with Dr. Sharpe’s presidency of ACLP.
