Make your mark in the Academy by volunteering this year
Want to get involved in an ACLP committee but don’t know where to start?
Applications for committee membership are open from early June.
Choose which committee you favor and check out the webpage that tells you how to apply.
If accepted, you’d start your volunteer service from the close of this year’s Annual Meeting where Paul Desan, MD, PhD, FACLP, will become the Academy’s president for 2025-2026.
“Thank you for considering volunteering for an Academy committee or subcommittee,” says Dr. Desan. “Our organization would not be enjoying its current success without the talent and dedication of more than 200 Academy committee volunteers.”
Only current Academy members may serve on a committee or subcommittee. The Executive Office verifies membership status in April each year and lapsed members are automatically removed from committee appointments.
The list of current committees and appointments is here.
Except for a few committees, including the Annual Meeting and Education Committees—appointments for which are stipulated in the bylaws—you are welcome to volunteer for any committee or subcommittee you wish.
You can choose which committee or subcommittee you would like to apply for here.
“There’s no need to overextend yourself,” says Dr. Desan. “It’s possible you may not be selected for your preferred committee/subcommittee choice(s), but there are usually opportunities for all who apply. Please limit your selections to no more than three.”
For each that you apply for, you are asked to describe your interest in serving on the selected committee (i.e., why are you applying?), and comment on any experience and/or skills you possess relevant to service (including any prior history with the committee).
If you have any questions about the work of a committee/subcommittee you are welcome to contact the respective chair(s) before applying.
To help keep the process manageable, applications are not accepted outside of the online application process.
